Lumbini, birth place of Shakyamuni Buddha is one of the most important spiritual sites in the world for Buddhist pilgrims. It has huge cultural, religious, spiritual value as well as wonderful dreamed tourism destination for mankind. There are scores of archeological findings and more importantly marking the site that archaeologists have identified marker stone as where Shakyamuni buddha was born and now we called that place is Mayadevi Temple. Inscriptions inscribed by famous Kings Ashoka on ashokan Pillar, Bodhi tree brought from Bodhagaya in Ashoka time and so many others stupas and monasteries helped to declared and list out on UNESCO world heritage site in 1997. Pilgrims and visitors can observed all the archaeological findings in Lumbini Museum.
Government of Nepal by forming Lumbini Development Trusts (LDT) making development from every aspect through LDT. The master plan of lumbini is very scientific and good from every aspects which was design by worldly known architect Mr. Kenzo Tange.There are more than 25 countries has been already involved on master plan of lumbini by building their own temple and monasteries. Hundreds of thousand Pilgrimage from the different countries come to Lumbini every year and most of them stay in Hotel which are run by privately outside of Master plan and few of them stay at monasteries which is run by respective temples. There are also many meditation centers like Panditarama Vipassana Center for yoga and meditations.
About 55km west from Lumbini, there is another archaeological site called Tilaurakot, capital city of ancient Kapilvastu where Shakyamuni Buddha spent his 29 years of life as prince Siddhartha Gautama. Its unearthing is marked as a significant event that reveals the historical life of lord buddha. The exposed ruins mostly after excavations include foundations of a structure that resemble a palace complex and studies reveals that lord Buddha had lived his life as a prince before renouncing his throne and walking out of the Eastern gate. After several excavations and findings which are putting on small museum makes it more relevant for visitors. It is termed as a UNESCO tentative another world heritage site and major spiritual site for pilgrims.
